Gujarat Titans’ campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has come to an end, as they faced a defeat in the eliminator clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 30. After the loss, their captain Shubman Gill addressed some of the major points that led to the team’s loss..

While batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a score of 228 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. This massive score was majorly backed by the explosive knocks of openers Rohit Sharma (81 runs off 50 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (47 runs off 22 balls).
In reply, even though this season’s highest run-scorer Sai Sudarshan scored 80 runs off 47 balls, the team could only manage to score 208 runs with the loss of 6 wickets, in their given 20 overs.

Shubman Gill stated at the post-match presentation about how the last overs did not go in the team’s favor, added the fact that there were three easy catches dropped in the early phase of the match. He even said how the teams were clear on their vision to just win the match.

Last three-four overs didn’t go our way but still a good game. Definitely not easy when we drop 3 sitters. Wasn’t easy for the bowlers to control and doesn’t help when you drop 3 catches. Message was simple (for Sai and Washington). Just play the game you want to play and the goal was the same for both of them to make us win,” Gill said at the post-match presentation.

Gill even stated how the dew factor made the game easier for them and how there were a number of positives for the team. Gill even stated how last couple matches were not in the favor of the team, but credited Sai Sudarshan for his impressive batting performance.

Because of the dew, the wicket did become little easier for us. Definitely lot of positives for us. Last 2-3 games didn’t go our way but credit to all the players, especially Sai – he was terrific for us this season. 210 would’ve been par for us on this pitch,” he added.
