The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) received a bomb threat on Friday claiming to blow up the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi as a ‘revenge’ for Operation Sindoor which was carried out by the Indian armed forces against Pakistan.

“There will be a bomb blast in your stadium. We have a committed Pakistan sleeper cell active in India. The blast will be our revenge of Operation Sindoor,” the mail read.

A top DDCA official told IANS that a police complaint was registered after they had received the bomb threat.

The venue played host to Delhi Capitals’ home matches in the IPL 2025 before it was suspended for a week by the BCCI on Friday. The stadium was originally scheduled to host the Delhi-based franchise’s encounter against the Gujarat Titans on May 11.

Earlier on Friday, BCCI made the decision to indefinitely suspend the IPL amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan. There is no guarantee as to when the league will resume.

The ongoing season of IPL still had 12 league games to go along with 4 knockout matches. It was originally supposed to be winded by up on May 25 in Kolkata.

“It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war,” a BCCI official told PTI.
