India Women Blue sailed to a facile eight-wicket win against India Women Green at the KSCA Cricket (3) Ground in Alur on Saturday for their second straight win in as many days.
After skittling Green for a meagre 46, Blue chased it down in 9.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Taniya Bhatia top-scored in the chase with an unbeaten 27-ball 29.
Blue captain Mithali Raj won the toss and opted to bowl first and her new-ball pair of Suman Gulia and Anuja Patil struck in their respective first overs. Opener Jemmiah Rodrigues (0) was trapped lbw off the first ball of the match by Gulia. Patil also found success with her first delivery, removing Sushree Pradhan on 5.
By the time eight overs had been bowled, half of Green batters were back in the dugout. C Prathyusha (18) and Sushma Verma (14) tried resurrecting the innings. However, the run out of Prathyusha with the team scoreboard reading 43 was the last straw. They lost their final four wickets for the addition of just three runs with Preeti Bose picking three wickets in the space of 10 deliveries. Anuja Patil and Bose finished with three wickets each.
Blue innings did not have the best of starts either. They lost opener Vellaswamy Vanitha in the second over. Her partner Dayalan Hemalatha scored 13 before walking back. But by that time, they were just 17 runs away from the target. Bhaita struck five fours in her innings to seal the deal.
