In the clash between Canterbury and Otago, New Zealand opener Chad Bowes created history as he scored fastest double century in List A cricket. Bowes completed his double century in 103 balls and broke the record for the fastest double century in 50-over format.

Since he could not make the cut on the New Zealand’s team for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, Bowes went all out in performing. Bowes became the first batter after Jamie How to have scored a double century in the history of tournament. Jamie scored 222 runs for Central Stags in 2012/13 edition of the tournament.

Bowes did not seem to be caring about wickets falling on the other end and played fiercely. He reached his century in 53 balls. The record for fastest ever century in the competition is held by legendary batter Ross Taylor in 49 balls.
