The Indian team participated in 2 net sessions ahead of their Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh in Dubai which will be played on Thursday. During the net session on Monday, India skipper Rohit Sharma was troubled a lot by one particular bowler.
Following the session, Rohit showered praise on left-arm pacer Awais Ahmad, who cause a lot of trouble for Rohit with ‘inswinging yorkers’. The India skipper even labelled Awais as a ‘class bowler’.
“Class bowler. Aap humare joota… pair todne ki kosish kar rahe the inswinging yorker maar ke. Badiya bhai badiya. Aap log humko yaha help kar rahe ho, bada acha laga, thank you (You were trying to break my leg. Great bowling. I’m grateful that you all helped us here in training),” Rohit said in a video.
Meanwhile, Rohit recently put his batting woes aside and scored a match-winning knock of 119 against England in the 2nd ODI held in Cuttack. Though he got dismissed for just a run in the next match, the century was very-much needed and will surely help Rohit’s morale heading to the Champions Trophy.
The 37-year-old will be hoping to become only the third Indian skipper to lift the coveted trophy. If Rohit does lead the Men in Blue to the Champions Trophy title, then he will definitely become one of India’s most successful skippers.
