Younis Khan scripts history on Day 3 of the second ongoing Test against England at Dubai as he became the first Pakistani batsmen to reach the 9,000 runs milestone in Test cricket. He recently surpassed Javed Miandad’s record of highest run-scorer in Tests for Pakistan and with this he added another gem to his star studded wall. Younis is the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in Tests and by far the only one to slam 9000 runs. Younis made his Test debut back in March 2001 against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi and has been a prolific run-scorer since. He is widely reckoned for his ability to play pace and spin effectively and puts a huge prize on his wicket. He is widely acknowledged as one of the finest batsmen to have featured for Pakistan. Younis was batting on 46 on Day 3 of the ongoing Test when he reached the landmark with single towards covers to Adil Rashid. Younis has represented England in 103 Tests and averages 54.22 with 30 scintillating centuries to his name. In fact, his average of 54.22 is the highest among any Pakistani batsmen who has at least scored 1,000 runs in Test cricket. It’s an illustrious record to boast of for someone who has drilled hard. Younis has played a good hand in the ongoing Test and is currently batting on 48 in the second innings.He along with Mohammad Hafeez and Misbah-ul-Haq has weathered the early storm and steered Pakistan in a profitable position. Younis also contributed a healthy 56 in the first innings and helped his side in posting a decent total on the board. Younis has always been among the runs whenever he walked out to bat. He is also the sixth highest run-scorer in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan with his tally of 7,240 runs in 264 outings at a respectable average of 31.34. On the contrary, he also holds the record for most number of Test centuries for Pakistan with 30 tons to his name.
