Pune Warriors coach Allan Donald said that Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Yusuf Pathan‘s dismissal in their IPL match on Wednesday for obstructing the field should be a lesson for all cricketers.
“I looked the replay [and] it was clearly [an attempt] to nudge the ball away. I think the intention of Yusuf Pathan was to drag the ball away,” Donald told reporters after his side beat KKR by seven runs.
Pathan was given out as he appeared to drag the ball away by his right foot even as the bowler attempted to get close to it.
“I think it is a very big lesson for any cricketer if he thinks to do that (obstructing field), even if you get it intentionally or not. But it was a good decision by the third umpire. I think that won us the game,” he added.
He praised his players for the team effort, particularly Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Angelo Mathews for bowling the 19th and 20th overs fantastically.
