Yuvraj Singh was recalled in India squad for their upcoming Australia tour 2015-16. India and Australia are set to play five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) from January 12. Yuvraj last played an international match in the final of ICC World T20 2014 in Sri Lanka. The other surprise selection in the T20I squad was Ashish Nehra. The Indian selector Sandeep Patel revealed after the meeting that Yuvraj has been special and India’s limited-overs kipper MS Dhoni is happy to have him back. The selection for the series has been made keeping the ICC World T20 2016 in mind, that is set to begin in March and India are the hosts for the very first time. Meanwhile, Nehra who has played a total of 8 T20Is last played a T20 for India back in 2011. However his vast international experience will be a boon for India and will be a great guide for the other bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav in the crucial series. Patil also added that “Nehra is a consistent performer in T20 format. He will be useful in the team.” According to BCCI’s official twitter handle, he said, “We will need experienced players in the T20 WC. Australia tour perfect chance to give them a shot.” That is why the names like Harbhajan Singh, Nehra and Yuvraj have been selected in the T20I side. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has earned himself a recall to the India ODI and T20I squad with a string of solid performances against South Africa in the longer format only recently. However Mohit Sharma was not available for selection due to fitness issues.
