India’s spin wizard makes history in the IPL, equals Sunil Narine THIS iconic milestone

India star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled one of the greatest spell in IPL history at Maharaja Yadavindra Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 15 as Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a convincing 16-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Chahal equalled Sunil Narine’s record for the most four-wicket hauls in the Indian Premier League after delivering a brilliant spell, taking four wickets while conceding only 28 runs, while defending a low total of 111 runs.

The 34-year-old shifted the momentum by dismissing Rahane, who scored 17 off 17 balls. Chahal struck again in the ninth over, sending Raghuvanshi back for 37 off 28. He then delivered a double blow in the 12th over, dismissing Rinku Singh for 2 off 9 and Ramandeep Singh for a golden duck on consecutive deliveries.

This was Chahal’s eighth time taking four or more wickets in an IPL innings, equalling Sunil Narine’s all-time record. Both have seven four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. Among Indians, Amit Mishra follows with five, four-wicket haul, whereas Kuldeep Yadav and Chris Morris have taken multiple four-wicket hauls against KKR.

Chahal also became the third-highest wicket-taker against the Kolkata Knight Riders, having taken a total of 33 wickets against them.

Chahal started his IPL 2025 season on a disappointing note, managing only six wickets in six matches at an average of 32.50 and an economy rate of 10.26. However, after his performance against KKR, he will be looking to carry this form into the remainder of the tournament.
