After brilliant fifties from Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni, and a late onslaught from Yuvraj Singh in the Indian innings, it was time for the bowlers to step up and demolish the English batting. England 119 for 2 collapsed to 127 in their attempt to chase down 203. With this win, India have pocketed the series 2-1. England were always in the chase but a dramatic collapse made them lose the series decider by 75 runs, which is India’s 2nd biggest victory in T20Is in terms of runs. It was the wicket of skipper Eoin Morgan that triggered the collapse. After Morgan’s wicket, Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took the game- changing wicket of Joe Root on the very next ball. Morgan and Root had added 64 for third wicket.

From there on, England fell like ninepins.  Chahal’s six wickets proved to be decisive and he became the first Indian to take five or more wickets in a T20I. This is also the best third best bowling figures by any bowler in T20Is. The record for the first two best bowling figures is held by Ajantha Mendis.

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah also picked three wickets and now has 33 wickets in T20Is. He now has only a wicket less than Ashish Nehra, who has 34 and Ravichandran Ashwin with 52 leads the Indian bowling charts in T20Is. Besides Chahal, Amit Mishra also played a crucial role in the match by conceding only 23 runs, claiming the important wicket of Jason Roy.

The victory was surely a huge one and the collapse was quite surprising. Social media went berserk after India’s win and we bring you some of the best tweets.

Both Man of the Series and Man of the Match award bagged by Chahal. He finished with eight wickets in the series.
