Zimbabwe fast bowler Brian Vitori has been suspended from bowling in international cricket for 12 months, as he was suspected for illegal action during the final of the Tri-Nation Series against Sri Lanka last month. Vitori bowled 9 overs with figures of 3 for 52 in his first ODI since July 2015. The match officials handed over the report during the match to the Zimbabwe management. It was the only match that Vitori played in the entire series. Following the suspension, Vitori went through an assessment at the University of Pretoria. This is the second instance in 2016 that Vitori has been barred from bowling. ICC had earlier suspended Vitori in February during a T20I against Bangladesh.

Vitori was asked to go through various assessments in Chennai, where it was discovered that all his deliveries exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under ICC’s regulations. It was the same case this time as well. However, because Vitori has been found guilty of illegal bowling action twice in a period of 10 months, he now has been banned for a year. Vitori can appeal against the procedural aspect of an independent assessment but only after the one-year period is exhausted.

So far Vitori has played 20 ODIs, and has taken 29 wickets with career-best figures of 5 for 29. In 4 Tests he has taken 12 wickets with best figures of 5 for 61.
