Greetings everyone! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live match coverage of Day Two of the second Test between New Zealand (NZ) and Zimbabwe (ZIM). The Black Caps showed their batting supremacy on Day One at Bulawayo as they ended with the score reading 329/2 at Stumps. Martin Guptill and Tom Latham took them off to a magnificent start. They put on a 169-run partnership until Guptill was trapped in front by Donald Tiripano. One wicket didn’t let to another as Kane Williamson came out, played some positive cricket and put on another stand with Latham, who was the star of the day, scoring yet another hundred. Zimbabwe, will have to come out with better plans on Day Two. Stay tuned as we bring you all the live updates. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Zimbabwe vs New Zealand 2016, 2nd Test at Bulawayo
Latham, in what was an almost no-error innings, enjoyed batting at the wicket which looks like a belter. Runs were not difficult to come as Zimbabwe’s seam bowlers, Tiripano, Chinouya struggled with line and length. They offfered the batsmen too much width at times and Tiripano even struggled with no-balls early on in the Test. Latham found built two solid partnerships with Guptill and them Williamson before getting caught and bowled of what became the last ball of the day. He went for a well-made 136.
Zimbabwe will have to do their homework, and reassess their plans as they head into the second day’s play. The spinners Graeme Cremer and John Nyumbu did pose a threat before the final session but didn’t have a wicket to show for it. They bowled a number of full tosses in the third session of play and that meant easy runs for the New Zealand batsmen who were settled at the crease. Williamson was unbeated on 95 at stumps and is set for a hundred.
