Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and live cricket updates of the third day’s play between New Zealand and Zimbabwe, at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. New Zealand will be pushing for another win against a lowly Zimbabwe, having amassed 582 for 4 declared in their first innings. The hosts have surprisingly made a very strong start, reaching 55 for no loss in their first innings so far. But an innings defeat can be said imminent for Zimbabwe’s batting line-up which neither has the depth or requisite experience to make strong replies to big totals even while playing at home. Chamu Chibhabha was batting on 31 off 89 balls, with the help of 4 boundaries at stumps on the second day. Along with Chibhabha at the crease was Tino Mawoyo, who was on 20 not out off as many as 91 balls with the help of 4 boundaries.
The hosts will have to dig deep into the third day as there is ample amount of time left in the game for New Zealand to pick the required 20 wickets. Zimbabwe currently trail by 527 runs in the first innings.
It has been New Zealand all the way as far as this series is concerned. After winning the first Test handsomely, the Kiwis batsmen made merry against Zimbabwe in the second Test. Martin Guptill fell for 87, but Tom Latham (136), Kane Williamson (113) and Ross Taylor (124 not out) made most of the opportunities. Even New Zealand’s wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling hammered 10 boundaries to score 83 not out.
