Greetings everyone! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live match updates for the Final Day of what has been an exciting contest between Zimbabwe and New Zealand. Day Four ended in rather poor fashion for the hosts as they were 58-3 at Stumps. A decent 45-0 start, from the openers turned into a bit of a disaster as Neil Wagner got rid of Chamu Chibhabha. The last three balls of the day, New Zealand struck twice, Tino Mawoyo and Sikander Raza losing their wickets meant New Zealand had made their job easier for Day Five. With 329 more runs to get, can the hosts battle it out for an inspiring draw or will the visitors romp them to make it 2-0. Stay tuned to find out. After declaring at 166-2, New Zealand had posted a target of 387 runs for Zimbabwe. Kane Williamson went on to notch up another milestone as his unbeaten 68 made him just the fourth player to score fifty or more in his first three Test innings as captain. Ross Taylor also continued his magnificent form with the bat, scoring 67 with four boundaries and three sixes in his knock.
Chibhabha and Mawoyo started well in the chase but were both back in the pavilion as proceedings on Day Four came to an end. Zimbabwe’s batting coach Lance Klusener is optimistic about his side keeping the visitors at bay on the final day. “We are pretty confident that we can bat for the day,” Klusener had said. Although, New Zealand pacer Trent Boult was positive about his team’s chances of getting past Zimbabwe’s batting line-up as well. He said, “We know it is a very slow and unresponsive pitch, so it will be nice to come back here and only have to grab seven more wickets. There are a couple of deliveries going over the top and a few staying quite low. Hopefully it deteriorates a little more on day five.”
