Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka meet for the first of the two-Test series to be played at Harare Sports Club, Harare. Makhayan Ntini, who was their interim coach during India and New Zealand’s tour, has taken over as bowling coach. Zimbabwe’s main weapons will be Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, skipper Graeme Cremer, Sikandar Raza and Hamilton Masakadza. From Sri Lanka’s point of view, they have also gone through a lot of changes with senior pros Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal missing out on the tour. They will be led by 39-year0old, Rangana Herath. It will be the senior man’s first assignment as skipper and he will be eager to make a mark with a young side against low-lying Zimbabwe.
