Sri Lanka, batting first, have put up a mammoth 537 against the hosts. The innings saw a couple of centuries coming from the visitors. Kusal Perera continued scoring in this season as he put up 110 while it was Upul Tharanga who scored the other century and remained not out at 110. Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva had provided the team with a solid start. Karunaratne scored 56 while Kaushal missed on his century for 6 runs. Asela Gunaratne also contributed with 54 down the order. For Zimbabwe, skipper Graeme Cremer was the highest wicket-taker with 4 wickets. Chris Mpofu bagged a couple of wickets, Sean Williams, Malcolm Waller and debutant Carl Mumba all got a wicket each.

Chasing the target, Zimbabwe lost a quick wicket as Brian Chari departed for 5. But the other opener Tino Mawoyo stayed at the crease and with Hamilton Masakadza at the other end built up a much-needed partnership to bring in the initial stability in the hosts’ batting. As Day Three starts, Mawoyo will bat at 41 and Masakadza at 33 as Zimbabwe were at 88 for 1 at stumps of Day Two.
