17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter taken in as South Africa announced squad for Women’s ODI World Cup

17 year old wicketkeeper-batter got her maiden call-up as South Africa announced their 15-member squad for the Women's ODI World Cup.

South Africa announced their 15-member squad for the women’s ODI World Cup, set to begin later this month in India and Sri Lanka. However, one stand-out name in the list is 17-year-old wicketkeeper batter Karabo Meso- who has earned her maiden call-up to the squad.

Karabo Meso made her debut for the senior side against Sri Lanka in T20Is in March this year, and has played two ODIs and five T20Is so far. She is going to take part in her first senior World Cup after competing in t20 U19 Women’s T20 World Cups in 2023 and 2025.

The South African squad does not comprise of former captain Dane van Niekerk- who had earlier came back from her decision to retire. Though it was already expected that Niekerk will not find a place in the list even when she was included in the pre-tournament camp.
