In truly emotional scenes at the Adelaide Oval, cricketers, officials and fans stood in unison for 63 seconds paying tribute to the life of Phil Hughes, who passed away on November 27, as a result of head injuries he sustained during a Sheffield Shield match two days prior.

Tuesday, the first day of the Test saw the Australian and Indian teams, both sporting black arm bands, and lining up in respect of the left handed opening batsman.

Hughes was playing for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield tournament and thus, Adelaide was his adopted home. The ground saw Hughes’ smiling face, wearing his baggy green, appearing everywhere including the moving video tribute.
