As the IPL 2025 will continue May 17: Look at all the overseas players likely to return

After the Indian Premier League was suspended, the tournament is going to begin May 17. On that note, let's look at all the overseas players and their availability for the league.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended for a week because of the tensions at the border between India and Pakistan. The tournament is going to continue from May 17 as per the new schedule from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). On that note, let’s look at each franchise and their overseas players’ availability

Apart from Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee, all the other overseas players stayed in India. However, it is not clear on whether Buttler, Kagiso Rabada and Sherfane Rutherford will be getting NOCs to stay after the league stages end.

Four of their players have international commitment to follow. These four players were Josh Hazlewood, Jacob Bethell, Romario Shepherd and Lungi Ngidi. Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone are most likely going to be available for the remaining matches.

Three of their players namely Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mitchell Owen have confirmed that they will be available to play. However, there is no confirmation on whether Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglis and Aaron Hardie will return to India.

All of their overseas players are going to join the squad. However, Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch have uncertainty over being available for playoffs and Corbin Bosch might not be able for the playoffs if they manage to qualify because of international commitments. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman is also going to be available for the remaining season.

As per media reports, Mitchell Starc has uncertainty looming over has availability for IPL. Jake Fraser McGurk has decided to opt out, and the franchise signing Mistafizur Rahman as his replacement. All the other overseas players are expected to join the squad in the coming few days.

Andre Russell, Sunil narine, Quinton de Kock, Rovman Povell and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are expected to return to the squad. However, Moeen Ali and Spencer Johnson have not clarified being available as of now.

Apart from Aiden Markram, all of the other overseas players of the franchise are likely to return.

Sunrisers Hyderabad team (Image Credit- X)

Even though the team is out of contention, Pat Cummins and Travis Head are going to be back. Heinrich Klaasen has also confirmed to be in the squad. However, there is no confirmation on whether other of the team’s players- Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis and Wiaan Mulder- will return.

As the franchise is already out of the race to playoffs, three of their overseas players are most likely going to skip the remaining matches.

Noor Ahmed, Dewald Brevis, Matheesha Pathirana, Sam Curran and Devon Conway are all going to return to the squad. However, there is no clarity on the availability of Rachin Ravindra and Jamir Overton might not even be back.
