Parag is the stand-in captain for Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals appointed Riyan Parag as their captain for the first few matches of the season after regular skipper Sanju Samson suffered a finger injury before the commencement of IPL.

The Rajasthan Royals’ interim captain was fined by the BCCI for maintaining for a slow over-rate in the recent match against the Chennai Super Kings.

Parag is the second captain to be fined this season

The first captain to get fined in the ongoing season was Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya, who also received INR 12 lakh fine from the BCCI for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side’s clash against the Gujarat Titans.

BCCI to not ban any players for maintaining slow over-rate

The BCCI won’t be banning any captain for their respective sides maintaining a slow over-rate during an IPL match. This decision was taken by the board ahead of the ongoing season. Captains can be fined 100 per cent of their match fees and given up to 4 demerit points for the offence at max.

Samson may return as captain in next match

Regular skipper Sanju Samson may make a return to captaincy duties with the Rajasthan Royals’ match against the Punjab Kings on April 5.
