The 33-year-old overtook Chris Matthews’ 8-101 in 1988-89 as the best figures in a shield final. He picked up key wickets of Shaun Marsh (6) and Michael Klinger (18) on day one and then went on to dismiss Marcus Harris (81), Sam Whiteman (72) along with four tail enders as West Australia were bowled out for 421 on day two. Victoria closed on the title as they amassed 135 in reply without losing any wicket.
