‘Going above the stump mostly…’: Sunil Gavaskar hints at Controversy after KL Rahul’s dismissal in Lord’s Test

KL Rahul was dismissed LBW out on final day of 3rd Test against England. However, Sunil Gavaskar claimed that the DRS usually favours England.

The final day of the third Test between India and England began on a low note for the visitors- as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Washington Sundar were dismissed in a small time-frame. The Shubman Gill-led side needed 135 at the beginning of the day and were looking in a good position, but the three dismissals turned the course of the game.

Out of the three dismissals, it was the KL Rahul getting LBW out which got Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar in extreme anger. Rahul tried to defend the ball, but was hit behind his pad, to which he was initially given not-out. Ben Stokes asked for a review and the DRS showed ball hitting the middle stump.

However, Gavaskar did not agree with how the DRS showed the trajectory of the ball. “Surprisingly, this one didn’t bounce that much. When Indian bowlers were bowling balls were going above the stump mostly in reviews,” Gavaskar said on air.
