‘He’s a genuine spinner…’: Former Indian star wants THIS player to be in Playing XI for Manchester Test

As the Indian team will play the 4th Test of the five-match series against England, former wicketkeeper-batter Farokh Engineer advised the team to name Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI.

The Indian cricket team is trailing 1-2 in the five-match Test series against England. The upcoming match in Manchester is a do-or-die for the visitors, and they will have to win the clash if they wish to stay in contention for the title along with winning both the matches to win the series.

Ahead of the fourth Test in Old Trafford (Manchester), set to begin July 23rd, former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Farokh Engineer has advised the team to include left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in their playing XI. Farokh even stated that Kuldeep should replace Nitish Reddy- who bowled right-arm medium pace.

I’d bring in Kuldeep in place of an all-rounder like Nitish Reddy. Kuldeep could’ve made a difference in the previous Tests, where the conditions supported spin. Old Trafford also takes spin, and he could relieve pressure off (Jasprit) Bumrah and (Mohammed) Siraj. He’s a genuine spinner-a wrist spinner who turns the ball. Jadeja and Washington Sundar are more holding bowlers. Washington has done well-he’s a handy batsman and a great fielder, so I’d keep him,” Farokh said on RevSports.

Kuldeep Yadav is a part of the Indian squad, but is yet to get a chance in the ongoing series. The visitors went with Ravindra Jadeja as the sole spinner in the series opener, with naming Washington Sundar in the second match of the series. Both of them were the spinners in the third clash as well.
