The 2025 season of IPL is going to begin in a short while. Almost every team has announced their captains as well. However, Delhi Capitals is the team that is yet to announce who will captain their side.
After Rishabh Pant broke his ties with the franchise, they were in need for a leader. They even took the players in the mega-auction with the thought that one of them will be given the leadership duties. Though reports state Axar is set to become Dc’s capital, here are some reasons why he should not be given the duty.

1) Inexperience of captaincy in IPL
Axar has been plying IPL for a long time, but he has not been given the leadership role. He has the experience of leading a team in a single IPL match. IPL is a tournament where the chances for a comeback are very less. In such case, an unexperienced leader is going to pose a threat to Delhi capitals.
2) Better players
Delhi Capitals took in KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis in the auctions. These are two alternate players with better experience in captaincy. Axar being given the leadership role with Rahul of Plessis in the team might not turn out to be good for the franchise.
3) Performance might get affected
The pressure of captaincy has a lot of effect on the players in IPL. In such case. Taking the load of captaincy and putting extra pressure on a player is a move that Delhi Capitals might look to avoid.
