‘IPL is best thing…’: MS Dhoni whole-heartedly expresses his love for the tournament

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has stated that playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been the best thing for him after representing the Indian team.

MS Dhoni, who only plays in the IPL has been part of CSK since the inaugural edition in 2008. He is in the final years of his playing , and is praised by his fans- who come in yellow jerseys as to show their support to the wicketkeeper-batter.

Speaking on Star Sports, MS Dhoni said, “It’s a great feeling and I’ve always said that’s a big thank you from the fans. That’s what I think, like the last couple of years that I’ve been playing, you know, it’s kind of like, they’re saying thank you so much for everything you’ve done. And it’s amazing, especially when you play a sport, all you want is the appreciation of the fans. And when it comes to cricket, India is the best place to play.”

When speaking about missing out on a spot in IPL playoffs for a second consecutive year, Dhoni said, “Being part of the Indian cricket team is one of the greatest things. I am not playing international cricket. So IPL is the next best thing that can happen. So, I don’t get goose bumps, but it is kind of a feeling, you know, whenever you walk in, everyone is so excited. They are waiting for you. They want you to do well. Even when you are playing against a team they want to win, they still want you to perform well, contribute a little, whatever it may be. So yes, it is an amazing feeling.”

CSK were the first team in the current 2025 season who got eliminated from the playoff race, and they are at the bottom of the points table with 3 victories in 13 matches. They have a total of 6 points and a Net Run Rate of -1.030.
