Irfan Pathan slams India for relying too much on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami: Asks to start playing without them

As India did not name Jasprit Bumrah in the Playing XI of the second Test against England, Irfan Pathan stated that the team needs to learn how to play without the service of Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

After Jasprit Bumrah was not named in playing XI for the second Test against England at Edgbaston, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has claimed that a repeated absence of Bumrah is important to keep the team’s bowling lineup in red-ball matches.

Shubman Gill revealed that Jasprit Bumrah was not named in the playing XI- which was a decision taken in order to manage his workload and keep him safe from a potential injury concern.

Bumrah

If you are selected in the Indian team, you cannot pick and choose (which match to play) to manage your workload. There is no other bolwer like him, he is world class. But here, you are not missing the match for injury but for ‘workload management’,” Irfan said on Sky Sports.

This is why I have been saying that Indian cricket has to start thinking about playing without Bumrah and (Mohammed) Shami. They have to start planning for playing without them in Test cricket,” he later added.
