‘It’s like watching…’: Sunil Gavaskar compares Rishabh Pant with Tennis great Carlos Alcaraz

As Rishabh Pant is known for entertaining the crowd with his on-field activities- be it while batting or while fielding- legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar has compared the star wicketkeeper-batter with Wimbledon singles defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain- as both of them make their respective sport exciting by giving displays of unexpected performances.

While visiting the iconic All England Lawn Tennis Club, where the Wimbledon matches are being held, Sunil Gavaskar stated that Rishabh Pant and Carlos Alcaraz were pretty similar.

“Alcaraz is moving around so well, and he’s got all the shots in the book. He can be a bit of a showman sometimes, trying those drop shots when you think he should be finishing the point,” Gavaskar said, talking to Star Sports.

“But that’s what people come to watch, it’s like watching Rishabh Pant. With Pant, you have to expect the unexpected. Similarly, with Alcaraz, you have got to expect the unexpected. That’s what makes him so exciting,” he added.

As of now, Rishabh Pant faced a small injury to his finger and had to leave the field. He injured a finger of his left hand while keeping the stumps during one of Jasprit Bumrah’s over. As Pant left the field, Dhruv Jurel was given the responsibility to keep the wickets.
