Jos Buttler close to create history: Needs single ODI half-century to surpass England legend in a masive record

Jos Buttler scored 61 vs South Africa to register his 39th fifty-plus ODI score, equalling Ian Bell for third-most by an England batsman.

Jos Buttler, England’s wicket-keeper batsman, is performing well in one-day cricket. The Three Lions narrowly lost to South Africa by just five runs in the ongoing three-match series. However, the 34-year-old made a strong contribution with the bat, scoring 61 runs off 51 balls.

Buttler’s impressive knock in the second ODI against Proteas included three boundaries and sixes, bringing England very close to their target of 331 runs. However, they ultimately finished with 325 runs in their 50 overs, falling short by 5 runs.

Buttler’s fifty against South Africa marked his 39th fifty-plus score in ODIs. This achievement tied him with Ian Bell for the third-most fifty-plus scores by an England batsman in the history of the format. To move ahead on this prestigious list, he needs just one more half-century.
