‘Nice way of compromising…’: Joe Root’s solid solution to frequent request of ball-change by India in England

After being fed up by India constantly asking for a change of balls, England batter Joe Root gave a solid 'solution' to the teams constantly asking for change of balls in Test cricket.

England team’s star batter Joe Root has given an interesting yet permanent “solution” to the teams asking for a ball-change. Root has stated that the bowling captain should only be allowed 3 challenge every 80 overs. The top-order batter shared this thought only because the Indian team asked to change the ball twice during Day 2 of the 3rd Test of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy.

I personally think that if you want to keep getting the ball changed, each team gets three challenges every 80 overs and that’s it. That would be a nice way of compromising,” Root said

Root was specifically not happy with the Indian team frequently asking to change the ball- which causes a lot of intervals in the game. “You can’t just keep asking and slowing the game down at the same time. There is no need to make a big deal about,” he said.
