“Not Expected From No. 3” Former Indian cricketer Slammed Karun Nair for his performance at test series against England

Former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer targeted Karun Nair for his poor performances in the ongoing test series against England and for losing all the great opportunities for his career.

Known for his terrific run in domestic cricket and a great comeback in the IPL 2025 for Delhi Capitals, Karun Nair has been facing backlash in the recent times because of his poor performance in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The highest score Nair has made is merely 40 runs, and in total of 6 innings he has scored 131 runs.

Mentioning his poor performances, former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer targeted him for losing the great opportunity. Engineer blames Nair for not performing well and letting go of the opportunity of batting at No.3. Now the big question is will he be included in the playing XI for the fourth Test, set to begin 23rd July.

Karun Nair has been getting brilliant 20s and 30s. He’s (Nair) scored beautiful 30 runs, beautiful cover drives and all that. But a beautiful 30 is not expected from a No. 3. You’ve got to get a not-so-beautiful 100. You need runs on the board. You need (to score) bigger. The expectation should be much higher,” Engineer said about Karun Nair at Times of India.

Comparing Karun and Sai Sudharshan, Farokh even backed Sudharsan in the playing XI for the fourth test, stating about giving him another chance and letting him show his talent and courage in the next one. “We should pick the best XI. I haven’t seen much of Sai Sudharsan. You’ve got to pick the best player for the time being. Who’s going to give you maximum? You are playing for your country. Your reputation is at stake. So, I would say, forget the age. If he’s good, play him to win this Test match,” he said.
