Rishabh Pant ‘Had three Celebrations’ in Mind for his century against England: Ended up with his iconic Summersault

In a conversation with India's Test batting legend Cheteshwar Pujara, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant revealed that he had three types of celebrations in his mind when he completed his century in England during Leeds Test, but he ended up with his iconic summersault celebration.

India’s star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who scored his seventh Test century during the first Test of the five-match series against England, stated that he had three different sort of celebrations in his mind, but he ended up with the one he knew perfectly- the iconic summersault, also known as the handspring.

Rishabh Pant scored an iconic 178-ball-134 on the first day of the 1st match- and now he even holds the record for most Test centuries as a wicketkeeper-batter for India.

I had three celebrations in mind – of an OK sign on the eye (which footballer Dele Alli does), another was ‘let bat do the talking’. Then I thought, I will quietly do the one I know well. I have been doing it from my childhood (front summersault- also known as handspring),” Rishabh Pant said in a chat with Cheteshwar Pujara.

I trained in gymnastics in school. I am very used to it since childhood. Even if you wake up me up in the middle of the night, I can do this. After the accident, I had to work harder for doing this. I worked on it and it’s now easy for me to do it,” he said.

Rishabh Pant scored a century on the second day of the 1st Test, and his knock along with the centurial knocks of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill had posted India to a total of 471 runs in their 1st innings.
