Rishabh Pant has been in outstanding form throughout the series, having scored centuries in both innings of the first Test. With India’s lead crossing 300 in the second Test, Pant had the freedom to attack from the very first ball and he did just that, dispatching England’s bowlers to all parts of the ground. Pant came out swinging and quickly went on a boundary-hitting spree. He got a lifeline with a dropped catch, and made England pay for it. By lunch, Pant was unbeaten on 41 off 35 balls, with five fours and two sixes.

Pant surpass Ben Stokes

Rishabh Pant surpassed Ben Stokes record of 21 sixes in South Africa. Pant also narrowed the gap with Stokes in the list of most sixes in World Test Championship (WTC) history. Pant now has 68 sixes to his name, while Stokes leads the chart with 83.

Pant’s aggressive approach pushed India’s lead past the 350-run mark. The team will now be aiming for a total around 500 to put England under real pressure.
