Rohit Sharma was the Test captain of India, but surprisingly announced his retirement today (May 7th) via his Instagram story. Following his retirement, let’s now take a look at which player might now take over the leadership role in the longest format for India. The Men in Blue will begin their red-ball season next month.
Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India failed to qualify for the World Test Championship finals for the first time. The team lost a series 0-3 to New Zealand, followed by loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Now, between June and August, Indian team are set to face England in a five-match Test series. This series will mark the beginning of the next phase of the World Test Championship for the Men in Blue.
