Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from Test cricket. He was the captain of the Indian team in the format. On that note, let's look at which player might replace him as the new leader in the red-ball format.
Rohit Sharma was the Test captain of India, but surprisingly announced his retirement today (May 7th) via his Instagram story. Following his retirement, let’s now take a look at which player might now take over the leadership role in the longest format for India. The Men in Blue will begin their red-ball season next month.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India failed to qualify for the World Test Championship finals for the first time. The team lost a series 0-3 to New Zealand, followed by loss to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
