‘Should have got this…’: Sourav Ganguly’s BOLD statement on Indian team’s 22-run loss at the Lord’s

Following Indian team's 22-run loss at the Lord's Test, former captain Sourav Ganguly shared his opinions on how he was disappointed with the team and the performance of their top-order.

Former skipper Sourav Ganguly is not happy that even after the exceptional talent and the quality the Indian team has in their dressing room, they ended up on the bitter side of the result during the third Test of the series against England at Lord’s. Ganguly stated that a better performance from the top-order would have easily gained the team a lead in the series.

As India were chasing a final inning total of 193 on the fifth day, they fell short by 22 runs and are currently trailing the series 1-2. However, the splendid tail-enders’ performance did earn the team some praises.

A little bit disappointed with the way India batted in this series, they should have got this 190. When you saw Jadeja fight and score the runs, batting quality in this team and they will be more disappointed then I am because it was an opportunity to get 2-1 up in the series against England,” remarked Ganguly at the Indian Racing League & F4 India Championship event.

I am sure that they will be disappointed not getting to 190 especially with the quality of batsmanship they have in that dressing room,” he added.

It was for a collapse in the top-order batters from the Indian side that the team lost the Lord’s Test. With only the tail-enders and Ravindra Jadeja standing by the end, the visitors could not have done much, and the team was wrapped up for 170 runs in a chase of 193.
