Shubman Gill on edge of becoming Quickest player in World to reach THIS feat in Champions Trophy

Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill is going to have a chance to secure a massive ODI record in the upcoming Champions Trophy, set to begin February 19.

Shubman Gill gave out a mesmerising performance in the recently-concluded ODI series against England, as he made significant contributions to India’s 3-0 series victory over the visiting team.

Gill’s outstanding performance in the ODI series included two fifties and a century, earning him the spot for most runs in the series. Him scoring consistent runs shows a strong potential for the Indian team as they head into the Champions Trophy 2025.

Shubman Gill has secured 2587 runs at an average of over 60 in 50 ODIs for India, showing remarkable consistency with a century and 15 half-centuries. During 3rd ODI against England, Dill achieved a record-breaking feat, as he became fastest player to reach 2500 runs in ODIs.

This exceptional ODI form has earned Gil the role of vice-captain of the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He is also being considered to be upcoming successor to Rohit Sharma as Indian skipper.

Shubman Gill is also on the verge of achieving a massive record. If he manages to score 413 runs in the Champions Trophy, he will become the fastest player to reach 3000 ODI runs. The current record is held by Hashim Amla, who reached the feat in 57 innings.

Shubman Gill has six innings to pass the South African legend. Looking at his current form, he might break this record during the Champions Trophy 2025, where India has three guaranteed matches, but might to up to five in they advance to the final.
