Shubman Gill to Shreyas Iyer: List of IPL captains who aren't regulars for India in T20Is
1. Ajinkya Rahane
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper last featured for India in T20I cricket back in the year 2016. Rahane played against the West Indies in a clash which was held in Lauderhill and ended up getting washed out.
2. Shubman Gill
The India batter will be seen leading the Gujrat Titans (GT) in the upcoming season of IPL after he was retained by the franchise for a whopping fee of INR 18 crore. Gill last played for India in the T20I format in 2024 during their clash against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

3. Rajat Patidar
The young India batter was recently appointed as the skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the upcoming season. Patidar is yet to make his debut for India in T20Is, however he has played in 3 Tests and an ODI for them.
4. Ruturaj Gaikwad
The India batter will be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming IPL season. Gaikwad last played for India in the T20I format in 2024 when the Men in Blue locked horns against Zimbabwe in Harare.
5. Shreyas Iyer
The India batter may be a regular for the Men in Blue in the ODI format, but his name is down the pecking order when it comes to the T20I format. Shreyas last featured in the shortest format for India back in 2023 during a clash against Australia. He is set to captain the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming IPL season.
