Sourav Ganguly scores his maiden double hundred

Exactly five years back, on this day at Bengaluru, Sourav Ganguly scored the only double hundred of his career.

After his infamous spat with Greg Chappell in 2005, Ganguly spent almost a year out of the Indian team and a year back to this, he returned to the national side and began a dream-run in Test cricket.

Playing against arch-rivals Pakistan, India were struggling at 61 for four, before Ganguly shared a 300 runs partnership with Yuvraj Singh. On December 9, 2007, Ganguly scored 239, hitting 30 fours and two sixes. Ganguly also added 178 with Irfan Pathan, who too scored his maiden Test hundred.

India won the series 1-0, with Ganguly ending with 534 runs in three Tests.
