Ed Joyce survived what might be one of the luckiest and the closest of shaves during the Pool B match between Ireland and United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday.

Batting on 16 in the 11th over, Joyce was lucky to survive getting bowled by UAE’s Amjad Javed when the ball swung in late, went past the batsman’s defence and hit the off stump. Despite the ball dislodging the bails, they landed perfectly back in place. Joyce went on to score a 49-ball 39 and Ireland won the close contest by two wickets.
