‘The hot property…’: South African Legend predicts most expensive player for SA20 2026 auction
Former South African legend Chris Morris has predicted that Aiden Markram might emerge out as the most expensive pick for the next SA20 auctions.

The auction for the fourth edition of the South Africa League (SA20 ) is set to be held on September 9. Speaking about that, former South African legend Chris Morris has shared his belief on Aiden Markram emerging as the most expensive pick at the auction.
“My prediction is that Aiden Markram will be the most sought-after player this auction. There are always surprises, but he’s definitely the hot property,” Morris was quoted as saying on SuperSport.
Chris Morris also mentioned that if any team does not buy Aiden Markram, then he might chose Brevis- who might also be a major player sought by a most of teams. “Alongside him, Dewald Brevis and Matthew Breetzke could also spark bidding wars – if a team misses out on Markram, they’ll likely go after Brevis,” he said.

Aiden Markram has had a great record in the SA20, where he led the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the 2023 and 2024 title under his captaincy, with the team being the runner-up in 2025. Markram has also been the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Aiden Markram can play as three different players for the team he will play for. He is best option as the captain, a great opener, and also a useful bowler with spin. This is a major reason why there might be a great bidding war for him in the auction.
