‘There is pressure…’: Shubman Gill opens up about one of his conversation during Manchester United event

Ahead of the crucial India vs England Test at Old Trafford, the Shubman Gill-led team met the Manchester United football team. Gill expressed how he was excited and stoked on getting a chance to meet top footballers, and to know their inspiring stories.

“Very exciting to be able to meet top athletes in the world from another sport. To get to know their stories is very inspiring. How two sports you are playing, two different sports but the mindset that you play with is most of the time very similar,” Gill said in a video posted by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official X (former Twitter) account.

“He (Bruno Fernandes) just told me that there are pressure at times but it’s kind of similar when you step onto the field, you don’t really think about all the things that people expect from you. It’s more about you to be able to enjoy your game and enjoy the sport that you love,” he added.

Recapping about India’s outing in the Test series so far, the team lost the series opener in Leeds, then won the second match in Birmingham, followed by another unlucky loss at Lord’s. The upcoming match at Old Trafford is going to be a do-or-die for the visitors.
