1. Virat Kohli – 692 runs

In the 2014/15 Border-Gavaskar series, the Indian batter played some absolutely terrific knocks to carry the team on his shoulders in crunch situations. Some of his finest innings from the series include the 141-run knock in Adelaide and the 169-run knock in Melbourne. Though, India ended up losing the 4-match series by 2-0, Kohli’s performance in particular was simply exceptional.

2. Rahul Dravid – 619 runs

In the 2003/04 Border-Gavaskar series, Dravid was easily India’s star performer. The legendary batter played some superb knocks throughout the series and ended up piling over 600 runs. His finest innings of the series was undoubtedly the knock of 233 in Adelaide. Dravid carried India to a crucial victory in that match and the 4-match series finished at 1-1 with last 2 games ending in draws.

3. Cheteshwar Pujara – 521 runs

In the 2018/19 Border-Gavaskar series, Pujara was a key part of the Indian team that triumphed over Australia by 2-1. The Indian batter scored 3 memorable centuries in the series and undoubtedly the finest one of them came in the fourth and final Test of the series in Sydney where he played an incredible knock of 193 to carry India to a humongous first inning total of 622/7.

4. VVS Laxman – 494 runs

The former India batter was Australia’s nemesis and some of his finest knocks of his career have come in red-ball cricket while playing against the Baggy Greens. Laxman was an important part of the Indian team that managed to draw the 2003/04 Test series against Australia. Laxman’s only century of the series came in Adelaide where alongside Dravid, he led India to a famous victory over the hosts.

5. Sachin Tendulkar – 493 runs

The master blaster was India’s best batter throughout the 4-match Border-Gavaskar series 2007/08 where the visitors ended up losing by 2-1. Tendulkar scored 2 fantastic centuries in the series. Firstly, the fabulous knock of 154 in the second Test in Sydney and then the magnificent knock of 153 in Adelaide which massively helped India in taking the match to a draw.
