‘Very disciplined…’: Former Indian captain claims KL Rahul played a mature knock in Lord’s

Former Indian captain Anil Kumble stated that KL Rahul played very calm and matured inning against England on 2nd day of 3rd Test at the Lord's.

Speaking about the second Day of the 3rd Test against England at Lord’s, former Indian captain Anil Kumble said that top-order batter KL Rahul had a fantastic approach while he played a great knock and faced the challenge posed by England bowlers- especially their pacer Jofra Archer.

KL Rahul scored a century in the first Test at Headingley (Leeds), and now scored a half-century- being unbeaten at 53 off 113 balls at stumps on Day 2.

It was fantastic, a typical KL Rahul innings where he had to grind it out. It was a fiery spell from Jofra Archer — especially that first spell where he clocked over 150 kmph, with steep bounce and a bit of swing early on,” Kumble said on JioHotstar.

KL (Rahul) countered all of that brilliantly. He was clinical in his approach and looked in control. It was a very disciplined and mature knock, and I’m sure he’ll be satisfied with how he played,” Anil further stated.
