Virat Kohli set to secure History in IPL 2025: 1st Indian to reach this MIGHTY achievement

Virat Kohli is set to mark his return to T20 cricket for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCBB) in IPL 2025. Following his retirement from T20Is after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, Kohli is now going to participate only in the IPL. Though it is not confirmed, there are assumptions that Kohli might potentially be the leader of the Bengaluru-based franchise just like he has done from 2013 to 2021.

Virat Kohli is on the edge of a massive achievement, as he might become the first Indian to reach a massive milestone in T20 cricket during the IPL 2025. Since he is India’s leading run-scorer in the format with 12886 runs in 399 matches, he is just 114 runs away from becoming the first Indian to reach 14000 runs in T20 cricket.

Virat Kohli’s T20 journey began when he marked his debut with Delhi state team in 2007. A year after that, he led India’s Under-19 team to victory in the Junior World Cup. This success led him to get called by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the draft of IPL 2008. Since then, Kohli has stayed with the same franchise, making him the first and the only player to represent a single team in every season.

The early seasons played by Virat were inconsistent, and he could not manage to score 300 runs in a season till 2010. However, since the 2011 season, he has been a consistently high-performing player.

Virat Kohli has 12886 T20s runs as of now. Out of that tally, 4188 were scored in international matches. Rest of the 8698 runs have been scored by Kohli in the normal T20 format. He was the previous holder for the record of highest runs in T20 Internationals.
