Australia beat India by 32 runs | India Vs Australia 3rd ODI match

    • That's it from the game. We move to Mohali for the 4th ODI. With Australia back in this series. That match will be an exciting one. It will be played on Sunday, 10th March. It will begin at 1330 local (0800 GMT) Join us for that one. Till then, cheers!

    • Man of the Match, Usman Khawaja, says there is no better feeling than winning especially against a strong Indian side. Credits how Virat Kohli played but appreciates the effort by his bowlers. Mentions they wanted to bowl first as they were not sure what a good first innings total was but Finch and himself played really well. Reckons the wicket got slower as the game progressed. Ends by saying he is pleased with the runs he scored.

    • Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, says it is a pretty decent effort by his boys. Credits how they batted and also appreciates the new ball bowlers. Feels it is important for the set batsman to continue as it is not easy for the new batsman coming in and that is exactly what Khawaja. He is working hard on his game and he is pleased with his effort today. Appreciates Khawaja's, Zampa's, Cummins' and Richardson's effort in this game.

    • Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says they did well to pull back things towards the end and were quite optimistic about their chances of chasing this down. Felt that they expected dew to fall in the evening but that did not happen. Reckons that the wicket was not an easy one to bat on and you need to make use of the loose balls. States that early wickets made their task very difficult. Adds they have lost early wickets in this series, something which has not happened to them a lot often, hopes they can improve that. Says he is very pleased with his knock. Ends by saying there might be some few changes in the next game but they will be playing with the same mentality.

    • For Australia, Pat Cummins had yet another decent time with the ball. Zampa was expensive but it was his wickets which won them the game. Jhye Richardson impressed one and all and justified his selection. Stay tuned for the presentation in a while...

    • Australia though did not let the lost momentum affect them as they came out all guns blazing with the ball. Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson were exceptional with the new ball as they dismissed the top order within Powerplay 1. Dhoni and Kohli then played themselves in and steadied the ship with a 59-run stand. However, the former was dismissed just as he started to get going. Jadhav then came out and it was his partnership with Kohli which brought India back in the game and changed the momentum. The two added 88 in 75 balls and revived hopes in the Indian camp. However, just as the tide seemed to be turning in the hosts favor Zampa struck. Kohli though continued, he along with Vijay Shankar built yet another 45-run stand with the skipper getting to his ton. The two were going great guns but it was once again Zampa, who got rid of the Indian skipper. Shankar then along with Jadeja did try to fight but the task was a very difficult one and in the end the Indians fell short quite comfortably.

    • THE SERIES IS STILL ALIVE! Australia have managed to make it 2-1. A very convincing performance by them. After quite a few matches one cay say the Aussies have put up a good performance with both, bat and ball. They were inserted and their openers came to the fore adding a massive 193-run stand. Usman Khawaja was the star as he scored the ton. They though did not end their innings with the bat with momentum on their side but still set a good enough target of 314 for the Indians.

    • 3 wickets for Pat Cummins. Pat Cummins is on a roll. 10 wickets down for IND. Out batsman is Kuldeep Yadav. It is all over for IND. 48.2Pat Cummins to Kuldeep Yadav. out, OUT! In the air... taken! There goes the last man. Cummins takes it. It is his 3rd wicket of the game. Length ball on off, Kuldeep swings but only manages a top edge. It balloons towards Finch at mid off and he makes no mistake. All smiles in the Australian camp as they have WON BY 32 RUNS!

    • End of over 49 ( 0 Runs )IND 281/9 48.1Pat Cummins to Kuldeep Yadav. no run, Short and outside off, Kuldeep looks to cut but misses.

    • End of over 48 ( 8 Runs )IND 281/9 47.6Jhye Richardson to Jasprit Bumrah. no run, A yorker on middle, Bumrah works it towards fine leg but no run taken.

    • Jasprit Bumrah is the last man in.

    • 3 wickets for Jhye Richardson. Jhye Richardson is on a roll. 3 wickets for Jhye Richardson. Jhye Richardson is on a roll. 47.5Jhye Richardson to Mohammed Shami. out, OUT! The fun is over! Shami departs and Richardson gets his second. Short and outside off. Shami looks to slap it but it goes off the toe end towards Cummins who takes it. Australia a wicket away now from winning their first game of the ODI series.

    • 47.4Jhye Richardson to Mohammed Shami. FOUR, FOUR! That has been dragged into the gap! Slower ball, Shami was a little too early into the stroke, he still manages to drag it through the mid-wicket region for a boundary. Two boundaries now in this over, 2 balls to go.

    • 47.3Jhye Richardson to Mohammed Shami. no run, A low full toss on middle, Shami hits it towards mid off.

    • 47.2Jhye Richardson to Mohammed Shami. FOUR, FOUR! Shami is not going to go down without a fight here. He is off the mark in style. Short and on the body, Shami goes for the pull, he gets a top edge over the keeper and into the fence.

    • Mohammed Shami walks out at number 10.

    • 47.1Jhye Richardson to Ravindra Jadeja. out, OUT! Surely the game is now done, right? The last recognized batsman walks back. It is the off cutter. There is no pace at all on that delivery. Jadeja looks to go over mid on but holes out to the fielder there. Maxwell takes it easily.

    • End of over 47 ( 10 Runs )IND 273/7 46.6Glenn Maxwell to Ravindra Jadeja. 1 run, Keeps strike now with a single towards point. 10 from this over, keeps India in the game. 41 needed in 3 overs.

    • 46.5Glenn Maxwell to Ravindra Jadeja. 2 runs, Now goes back and works it towards deep mid-wicket. Takes one and then seeing Stoinis get to the ball slowly and completes it.

Virat Kohli‘s 41st ODI century threatened to take India to an unassailable 3-0 lead, but in the end Australia hung on to close out a 32-run win in Ranchi that has allowed them to hope.

Set a target of 314 after Usman Khawaja scored his first ODI hundred and Aaron Finch roared back to form with a brisk 93, India’s found themselves indebted to Kohli once again following another poor start, but once he was dismissed for a scintillating 123 off 95 balls the chase petered out.

India were bowled out for 281 in 48.2 overs.

Put in to bat by Kohli – who won his first toss in five games – Australia made 313/5 after Khawaja and Finch put on Australia’s first century opening stand in ten ODIs – the last came on June 21, 2018 – and third overall in the past two years. They looked good for 350 before losing three wickets in 11 deliveries, and only managed 74 run in their last 11 overs, but thanks to a fine start from Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson and Adam Zampa’s dismissals of Kohli, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav, a total of 313 was enough.
