Hazratullah Zazaic Moeen Ali b Jofra Archer 11 6 2 0 183.33
2.1
J Archer to H Zazai, OUT! High in the air and taken easily by Moeen Ali at mid on. A length ball from around the wicket, Zazai wants to pull it away after backing away but the ball hits him high on the bat and goes straight up and with absolutely no distance. Moeen has the simplest of catches that he completes. Jofra strikes, must give him so much confidence before the big tournament to pick up these early wickets.
Noor Ali Zadranb Ben Stokes 30 34 5 0 88.24
11.4
Ben Stokes to Ali Zadran, OUT! Bowled! Stokes bowls it on a length. He hits the deck hard on middle and off. The ball comes in slightly after pitching. Noor Ali looks to defend but it gets an inside edge and the ball goes on to hit the top of middle and leg. Stokes strikes in his very first over. Afghanistan have lost their third.
Rahmat Shahc Liam Plunkett b Jofra Archer 3 10 0 0 30
4.6
J Archer to R Shah, OUT! Soft dismissal! Archer bowls it back of a length. He hits the pitch hard. Rahmat looks to play the pull but he is late on his shot. He ends up chipping it straight to mid on. Liam Plunkett there takes a dolly. Second wicket for Jofra in the game. Rahmat Shah, arguably Afghanistan's current best batsman departs. He has made just 35 runs in the two warm-up games combined.
Hashmatullah Shahidirun out (Liam Plunkett) 19 53 1 0 35.85
23.3
M Ali to G Naib, OUT! Shahidi has thrown his wicket away with an unnecessary run out. A flatter ball on the pads, turned towards square leg by Naib. The batsmen decide to go for the risky second. That though is the wrong decision they make as Plunkett in the deep throws the ball right on top of the stumps at the bowler's end and Ali removes the bails. The umpire takes it upstairs where the replays show that Hashmatullah is short. Half the side back in the hut now! Najibullah Zadran is the new man in to the crease.
Asghar Afghanc Jason Roy b Joe Root 10 14 1 0 71.43
16.2
Joe Root to A Afghan, OUT! Root strikes in his first over as well. The break has brought in a lapse of concentration for Afghan. Root tosses it up nicely on off, Asghar looks to heave it over long on. He does not time it well and hits it straight to Jason Roy stationed at long on. He takes an easy catch.
Gulbadin Naib (C)c Ben Stokes b Moeen Ali 14 26 1 0 53.85
23.5
M Ali to G Naib, OUT! The sixth one goes down! That is straight down the throat of the long on fielder. The second wicket of the over! A flighted ball outside off, Naib takes the invitation to hit it over long on but fails to get it over the fielder. He hits it straight and the ball does not have the strength to clear the ground. Stokes runs to his left and takes a smart catch. Afghanistan in massive trouble here, throwing their wickets away really.
Najibullah Zadranrun out (Jonny Bairstow) 1 2 0 0 50
24.3
Joe Root to M Nabi, OUT! Hardly in the frame. Flighted ball outside off, Nabi strokes it through covers. The sweeper cover comes in and gathers it. They complete the two but take on the arms of Jonny Bairstow. He throws it at the keeper's end. The throw is a very good one. Buttler whips the bails off quickly. The square leg umpire takes it upstairs. Replays roll in and confirm that Najibullah Zadran was well short.
Mohammad Nabic Jonny Bairstow b Jofra Archer 44 42 1 3 104.76
38.4
J Archer to M Nabi, OUT! The foot is okay says the third umpire. He will remain with the soft signal and AFGHANISTAN END WITH 160 on board. What an excellent catch that is in the deep! This is brilliant from Bairstow. Not even 40 overs they have played. The last ball is a short one outside off, Nabi looks to cut but the ball flies off the top edge and to third man. Bairstow initially takes the catch just inside the rope but realising that he would lose balance, throws the ball in the air, takes a step out before coming back in to complete the catch coolly. Well done, YJB! Archer ends with 3 wickets.
Rashid Khanc Ben Stokes b Joe Root 0 1 0 0 0
24.4
Joe Root to R Khan, OUT! Two wickets in two balls. Rashid Khan departs first ball. Root has his second wicket. A flatter leg spinner on the off stump line, Rashid backs away to cut but the ball flies to the right of slip off the thick outside edge. Stokes there takes a really smart, fast-reaction catch! He has a surprised smile on his face and with good reason as well. He cannot believe how he has taken that one himself. Anyway, Afghanistan in deep, deep trouble here!
Aftab Alamc Adil Rashid b Joe Root 6 27 0 0 22.22
32.3
Joe Root to A Alam, OUT! Aftab Alam has thrown it away and he did not need to. He just had to give strike to the more experienced player and better batsman at the non-striker's end. A flatter one outside off, Aftab comes down the track and looks to cut the ball away but it goes off outside edge of the bat and lobs in air. The backward point comes a little in to take the easiest of catches. One wicket away now England from bowling out the Asian side. Root has picked up 3 meanwhile!

M Nabi to J Bairstow, OUT! Yes, indeed! The foot is in the air and Bairstow is a gonner. Such a piece of luck this for Afghanistan. No doubt it was a brilliant ball from Nabi, an arm ball outside off, which Bairstow looks to drive but misses. The keeper, Rahmat Shah though misses the ball too. Luckily for Afghanistan though, the ball goes back onto the stumps. The keeper appeals and the square leg umpire takes it up. Replays show that it is out as the back foot is not grounded in time. A wicket against the run of play for the Asian side.
