    • So that's it from us, then. Skipper Kane Williamson led from the front today and inspired his side to a victory. The series is now levelled 1-1 and it's all set up to be a cracker as both teams have positives and will look to take the upper hand. The next encounter will take place in Mohali on 23rd October at 1330 IST. Do join us for it. Till then, this is goodbye and take care!

    • New Zealand skipper and the Man of the Match, KANE WILLIAMSON begins by stating that it is nice to talk about a win after a string of losses. Calls the wicket was not an easy one to score quickly. Acknowledges that the bowlers did dwell to put pressure on India. Adds that they knew they were below par and did not have enough runs to put pressure but they did well despite the dew. Mentions that the two left-arm spinners did well for them which allowed the seamers to be aggressive. Calls it a very good game of cricket and credits India for fighting hard right till the end. (On his ton) Kane says that he is just happy to contribute as much as he can, does not care if those are tons as long as they win. Adds that it was a tough wicket to bat today and is happy they managed to put up a good score. Mentions that the hands which were paining are okay now.

    • India skipper, MS DHONI says it is important especially when you are playing at home (for the crowd to be behind the team). Mentions that they kept losing wickets and that kept hurting them, despite them being in the hunt till the end. Is disappointed that he wasn't able to do more from his end. Adds that he still rues the fact that they kept losing wickets and credits the New Zealand bowlers for bowling well, on a wicket which had uneven bounce. States that there wasn't a lot of dew as the ball wasn't exactly coming on to the bat. Further adds that there will be some game where he will lose the toss and then they will have to play according to the conditions. Applauds his bowlers for doing a fantastic job, especially in the last 20-25 overs as they kept New Zealand under 250.

    • Hardik Pandya and Umesh Yadav's 49-run stand from 183 for 8 then gave India hope but once again the hosts failed to close the game out and lost the game by 6 runs. India will rue the fact they it was their game to lose and they had far too many soft dismissals. They will want to address that issue with a lot of youngsters in the team right now.

    • Chasing 243, India were rocked early when they were 73 for 4 with two of their best ODI players in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the hut. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav stitched a 66-run stand to get India back in the game. Once Kedar fell though, India were always losing momentum as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

    • It was Kane Williamson's crafty century in the first innings that helped them post a fighting total on board. The middle order collapsed for them but the bowlers stepped up and put in a superb effort to keep their team alive in the series. Trent Boult finished with figures of 2/25. He along with Tim Southee, who took 3/52 were the destroyers-in-chief.

    • What a game! Once again we see how low scoring games can be thrilling ones! New Zealand have put in a fine, fine performance here to register their first win on the tour. They have bowled superbly as a team and they will be buoyed with their performance today. The ODI series is tied 1-1 with three games to go.

    • End of over 50 ( 3 Runs )IND 237/10 3 wickets for Tim Southee. Tim Southee is on a roll. 10 wickets down for IND. Out batsman is Jasprit Bumrah. It is all over for IND. 49.3Tim Southee to Jasprit Bumrah. out, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! AND THE KIWIS HAVE DONE IT! Bumrah had dismissed Southee in similar fashion earlier and now, Tim has returned the favour. He comes running in and fires in a perfect yorker on middle and off. Bumrah tries his absolute best to dig it out but it's just too good for him. The bails are knocked over and India have been bowled out here. NEW ZEALAND WIN THIS MATCH BY 6 RUNS AND LEVEL THE SERIES 1-1!

    • 49.2Tim Southee to Umesh Yadav. 1 run, Low full toss outside off, Umesh yadav gets low to this one and hits it straight to the man at mid off. Will only get a single and that will bring Jasprit Bumrah on strike, just what the Black Caps want right now.

    • 49.1Tim Southee to Umesh Yadav. 2 runs, Full and on middle and leg, Yadav flicks this through the mid-wicket region. The fielder out in the deep does well to come across and cut it off. Keeps the batsmen down to two. 8 needed off 5 now.

    • Southee to bowl the final over. 10 needed in 6 balls. Umesh Yadav on strike!

    • End of over 49 ( 6 Runs )IND 234/9 48.6Trent Boult to Umesh Yadav. 1 run, Full toss outside off, Umesh Yadav plays this towards point and manages to steal a quick single. All happening here, folks!

    • Jasprit Bumrah is the last man in.

    • 48.5Trent Boult to Hardik Pandya. out, OUT! THAT'S A BIG WICKET FOR NZ! And that too at such a crucial point. Is this where the Kiwis can clinch it? The entire stadium is silenced. Boult bangs it in short and outside off, Pandya makes room and slaps it over the cover region. He doesn't get a hold ot it though and it's high in the air. Santner settles himself under it and takes a really good catch. 11 still needed off 7 balls.

    • 48.4Trent Boult to Hardik Pandya. no run, Boult fires this in full and on the stumps, Hardik gets an inside edge onto his pads as he tries to dig it out.

    • 48.3Trent Boult to Hardik Pandya. FOUR, FOUR! He clears the infield and gets the results. Length ball angling in on the stumps, Pandya makes room, clears his front leg and lofts it over mid off to pick up a boundary. 11 needed off 9 now.

    • 48.2Trent Boult to Hardik Pandya. no run, Slower one from Trent Boult. Pitches it up there and well outside off, Pandya lets it be thinking it will be called a wide. He's wrong in thinking so as the umpire is unmoved.

    • 48.1Trent Boult to Umesh Yadav. 1 run, Back of a length delivery well outside off, a lot of width on offer as Yadav cuts this away down towards third man for a single.

    • Boult to bowl now. India need 16 runs in 12 balls.

    • End of over 48 ( 6 Runs )IND 228/8 47.6Matt Henry to Umesh Yadav. 1 run, Good length ball outside off, it's cut down to third man for a single.

Having a lead of 1-0 in this five-match ODI series, the Indian cricket team will take field on Thursday to keep advancing towards another series win, when they take on New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. For those uninitiated, this match was supposed to be played on Wednesday, October 19, but due to a Hindu festival it was pushed by one day. Full Cricket Scorecard, India vs New Zealand, 2nd ODI

India will continue to miss the services of Suresh Raina, who has still not recovered from his illness. Despite that, there are not many chances that the Indians would make a lot of changes to their playing XI. In the previous game, Hardik Pandya made a terrific debut taking 3 for 31, and the rest of the team produced stellar performance to hammer New Zealand once again.

India, who had already won the three-match Test series 3-0, will be looking to inflict a clean sweep on the New Zealand side, which has struggled on all fronts so far on this tour. The Indians have been dominant on wickets that have assisted both batsmen as well as bowlers, but New Zealand have failed so far across departments to challenge India's authority in home conditions.

It is the second One-Day International (ODI) of the five-match series between India and New Zealand. The match is scheduled to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi. India and New Zealand have already faced each other in Tests in the tour and are now ready for some limited-overs cricket. MS Dhoni will lead the team in the series. Playing at home will be an advantage for the Indian team and they will be the favourites against New Zealand.

New Zealand are playing under a new captain in Kane Williamson. Williamson led the team to win a Test series in Zimbabwe recently which has surely enhanced the team spirit and boosted the confidence of the players. However, the challenge will be tougher in India, with Indian spinners at their best in home condition and on pitches that assist spin.

New Zealand’s performances in India have not been very impressive so far. In ODIs, the two teams have faced each other in 21 matches of which the visitors have won only five. At Feroz Shah Kotla, India have played New Zealand twice in ODIs and both the time defeated the visitors. If New Zealand manage to win the match, this will be their first victory against the hosts at this venue.

The last time India met New Zealand in 50-overs cricket at the ground was in 1999 as New Zealand visited the country under Stephen Fleming’s captaincy. Indian bowlers did a great job, restricting New Zealand at 179. Thirunavukkarasu Kumaran bagged 3 wickets and remained the highest wicket-taker of the match while it was Sourav Ganguly’s 86 that took India home with 7 wickets remaining.

The last time New Zealand and India played in an ODI at the latter’s home was in 2010, Daniel Vettori’s New Zealand could not put up a target of more than 103 making things easier for India at Chepauk. Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets while Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan all got two wickets each. Parthive Patel’s 56 and Yuvraj’s unbeaten 42 helped India get to the total in 21.1 overs.

So far, most of the matches between these two teams in India have all been low-scoring and the New Zealand batsmen have struggled to score in front Indian bowlers in India. This series will be a Test for Kane Williamson and his boys if they can turn things around.

This ODI series will be the last limited-overs cricket for India this year and MS Dhoni’s last chance to improve his numbers for 2016 as a captain. India have played some good limited-overs cricket this year, the highlight of the side being the brilliant form of team’s star player Virat Kohli. Kohli has been consistent throughout the season with the bat and is inching towards flawless batting gradually. Jasprit Bumrah is another name who, since his inclusion to the national team, has impressed the cricket-lovers of the country with his bowling.

Feroz Shah Kotla has been one of India’s prime venues to host cricket matches. The ground hosts Tests, ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) as well. So far, the ground has played host in 33 Tests, 23 ODIs and 4 T20Is. One of the oldest ground in India, the Kotla pitch has been in the news from time to time, with one match being cancelled due to dangerous turns produced by the pitch.
    Squads:

India: MS Dhoni (c &wk), Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya, Akshar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Amit Mishra, Jasprit Bumrah, Dhawal Kulkarni, Umesh Yadav, Mandeep Singh, Kedar Jadhav.

New Zealand: Kane Williamson (c), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell, Anton Devcich, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, BJ Watling (wk).
