11.5
R Herath to Masakadza, OUT! Mendis you beauty! Loopy ball on middle, skids through. Hamilton tries to defend it but gets an inside edge and Kusal at short leg dives forward to take an excellent catch. Zimbabwe have lost both their openers and not the start they wanted after electing to bat first.
Regis Chakabva (W)b Rangana Herath 12 23 0 0 52.17
7.3
Herath to R Chakabva, OUT! Herath strikes! Lovely bowling! The ball before this turned away and this one went on with the arm. Loopy ball on off, Chakabva plays all around it and it goes through bat and pad to shatter the stumps. First one down for Zimbabwe and who else but Rangana Herath provides the breakthrough for the home side.
Tarisai Musakandac Niroshan Dickwella b Lahiru Kumara 6 12 1 0 50
12.4
L Kumara to Musakanda, OUT! Successful review for the home side! Kumara steams in and bowls a fuller length ball outside off. It is angling in and then straightens. Musakanda goes for a booming drive but seems to have missed it as the ball sails into the gloves of Dickwella. However, there is a bit of noise which gets the Sri Lankans interested. Dinesh Chandimal has a chat with the keeper and the bowler and decides to go for the review. The replays show that the ball was very close to the outside edge as it went through. There is no Hot Spot or Snicko available and the third umpire overturns the onfield decision on the basis of sound which was heard. The debutant, Musakanda is not happy with it but he has to walk back. Zimbabwe are in a state of bother now.
Craig Ervinec Dilruwan Perera b Lahiru Kumara 160 256 13 1 62.5
94.4
L Kumara to Ervine, OUT! That is it! Sri Lanka have wrapped things up quickly today. Kumara gets his second. Ervine walks back to the hut after an absolutely brilliant innings. Lahiru bangs it in short outside off, Craig tries to ramp it over third man but it goes to Dilruwan Parera who runs to his right and takes a well-judged catch. Kumara is pumped. ZIMBABWE HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 356.
Sean Williamsc Asela Gunaratne b Dilruwan Perera 22 26 4 0 84.62
20.5
D Perera to Williams, OUT! Williams throws his wicket away! He plays the conventional sweeps and reverse sweeps well but attempting the slog sweep has brought about his downfall. Floated outside off on a fullish length, Sean kneels and goes for the slog sweep but fails to get on the top of the bounce. As a result, it takes the top edge of his bat and skies in the air behind square on the leg side. Asela Gunaratne goes across to his left, lines it up and takes a comfortable catch. Sri Lanka are on top and the spinners are getting the breakthroughs on a consistent basis.
Sikandar Razalbw b Rangana Herath 36 47 2 1 76.6
39.5
R Herath to Raza, OUT! There is no inside edge, Zimbabwe waste a review! Tossed up around off, coming in with the arm. Raza prods forward and looks to keep it out with his bat and pad together. The Lankans appeal confidently in unison and umpire Nigel Llong decides to rule it out. However, Sikandar opts for the review straightaway. The replays roll in and from the close view angle, it shows that it is pad first and then the bat. Time for the Hawk Eye. It shows that the ball is going to crash into the middle and off stump. A good knock from him comes to an end. Important breakthrough for Sri Lanka. They have broken the 84-run stand.
Peter Moorc Lahiru Kumara b Asela Gunaratne 19 42 0 1 45.24
51.6
A Gunaratne to Moor, OUT! Peter what have you done? He has thrown it away. That was needless from him. The bowling change has done the trick. Asela flights it full on middle, Moor tries to loft it over long on but holes out. Kumara runs a little to his left, settles under the ball and takes a good catch. The umpire check whether the front foot is fine or no. It is marginal but he has something behind the line. A poor shot has resulted in another wicket.
Malcolm Wallerb Rangana Herath 36 39 4 0 92.31
63.2
R Herath to M Waller, OUT! JAFFA! This is an absolute beauty by the veteran. He has got a 4-fer. Tosses it on middle, Waller plays for the ball which goes straight with the arm but the ball turns away and hits the off stump. Waller has to depart after playing a good knock. A 65-run stand has been broken by Herath.
Graeme Cremer (C)b Asela Gunaratne 13 33 1 0 39.39
73.5
A Gunaratne to Cremer, OUT! Gunaratne picks up his second wicket! He has a habit of breaking partnerships and he does it again. Tossed this one nicely around off and gets it to turn in. Cremer goes for the drive but misses. The ball goes through the gap between bat and pad and hits the off stump. The umpires check for the front foot but it is fine. They also check whether the bails came off or whether Dickwella's gloves were involved. It shows that the bail came off on impact with the ball. Sri Lanka will be aiming to bowl the visitors out under 300.
Donald Tiripanoc Dimuth Karunaratne b Rangana Herath 27 54 4 0 50
93.5
R Herath to Tiripano, OUT! 5-fer for Herath! Sri Lanka get the early breakthrough they wanted. Full ball outside off, Tiripano tries to play the reverse sweep but it comes off his glove and goes straight to Karunaratne at first slip who takes a safe catch. The partnership has been broken and who else but the wily veteran has done it. This is his 30th five wicket-haul in Test cricket. Tiripano walks back dejected. What was his pet shot throughout this innings eventually brought his downfall.

24.2
D Tiripano to Karunaratne, OUT! Take a bow, Masakadza! This is a beauty of a catch. Back of a length delivery outside off and a bit of width on offer, Karunaratne flashes hard at it. However, he only manages to get a thick outside edge that travels at a fast pace towards Hamilton at first slip. He is sharp as a hawk, shows brilliant reflexes and takes it reverse cup near his head. Tumbles down after grabbing it. His teammates encircle to congratulate him. The morale of his side will surely be uplifted with that. Much-needed breakthrough for the visitors. The free flowing 84-run stand comes to an end.
Upul Tharangarun out (Donald Tiripano) 71 107 10 1 66.36
32.1
Tiripano to Chandimal, OUT! Unfortunate way to get dismissed, he was playing so well! Full length delivery on middle, Chandimal jams it out back down the track. Tiripano in his followthrough does well to kneel and seems to have got a bit of hand to it. The ball goes onto hit the stumps at the bowler's end. The Zimbabwe players appeal confidently and the umpire decides to refer it upstairs. Time for the replays. It shows that Donald managed to get his fingertips to it. Tharanga was backing up. He was caught off guard and he failed to push his foot back inside the crease. Upul will be gutted at himself. He should have had his bat in the left hand instead of keeping it in the right. Such small things can cost you a lot like it has happened in this case.
Kusal Mendisc Regis Chakabva b Graeme Cremer 11 15 1 0 73.33
29.4
G Cremer to Mendis, OUT! The skipper strikes! Good piece of bowling from him and he has got the wicket of the talented Mendis. Induced him into a false stroke and gets the reward. Bowls this one slow through the air on off and gets it to turn away appreciably with extra bounce. Kusal strides forward to counter it but gets a faint outside edge. Regis Chakabva behind the stumps is alert and stretches his gloves to the right side to take a sharp catch. Good passage of play for Zimbabwe. They need to keep chipping away at the wickets.
Dinesh Chandimal (C)c Regis Chakabva b Graeme Cremer 55 100 6 0 55
60.3
G Cremer to Chandimal, OUT! Cremer removes his opposite number with a beauty! He gets his second wicket. Tosses this one nicely on leg stump and gets it to turn and bounce away sharply. Chandimal leans ahead to block it but gets a faint outside edge. Regis Chakabva moves his hands to his right to take a sharp catch. That one turned square and the Sri Lankan skipper didn't have any clue about it. That ends the 96-run stand. Can Zimbabwe trigger a collapse?
Angelo Mathewsc Hamilton Masakadza b Sean Williams 41 104 2 0 39.42
69.4
S Williams to Mathews, OUT! The bowling change has worked wonders! Williams gets the big fish. Angelo Mathews has to depart. Tosses it on off, Mathews tries to paddle sweep it but gets a top edge. Masakadza at first slip anticipates it and starts running to his left. He makes good ground, dives across and takes a very good catch. Sri Lanka are in trouble now.
Niroshan Dickwella (W)b Graeme Cremer 6 13 0 0 46.15
64.4
G Cremer to Dickwella, OUT! Poor choice of shot from Dickwella and he pays the price for it! Slow through the air outside off, turning in. Dickwella is caught in the crease as he looks to dab it past Masakadza at slip but only gets a bottom edge that crashes back into the stumps. Captain wonderful gets another one. He has used his variations nicely and is making life difficult for the batsmen. This track is starting to turn and grip substantially. Sri Lanka lose half their side.
Dilruwan Pererarun out (Malcolm Waller) 33 43 2 2 76.74
79.1
C Mpofu to Gunaratne, OUT! A run out at a wrong time. Just what Sri Lanka did not need. Horrible running from the two and brilliant fielding from the visitors. Short outside off, Asela guides it towards cover-point and sets off for a run. Perera is ball-watching and is late to take off. Musakanda moves to his right, dives to stop it and parries the ball to the cover fielder, Waller. He throws it to the keeper's end and Chakabva takes the bails off. Dilruwan was way short of his crease. He is not happy but he has to walk back. He was looking so good out there. Sri Lanka are 82 runs behind.
Asela Gunaratneb Graeme Cremer 45 110 3 0 40.91
102.3
G Cremer to Gunaratne, OUT! Maiden 5-fer in Tests for Graeme Cremer! Take a bow, skipper! He has utilized the turn and grip on this track to great effect. Bowls this one slow through the air on off and gets it to spin away substantially. Gunaratne opts to hang deep in the crease and block it. However, he gets a thick inside edge that goes onto shatter the stumps. He should have been forward to that instead of playing it from the back foot. A fighting innings nonetheless. SRI LANKA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 346!
Rangana Herathst Regis Chakabva b Sean Williams 22 30 2 0 73.33
91.5
S Williams to Herath, OUT! Herath departs next ball! Smart bowling from Williams and he gets the reward! Sees Herath coming down the track and fires it full outside off, Rangana looks to jam it out but misses. Chakabva behind the stumps fumbles thrice. However, the fourth time he picks it up and takes the bails off. Rangana could have made it back to the crease but he had already given up. Lazy by the veteran. Sri Lanka still trail by 34 runs.
Suranga Lakmalc & b Graeme Cremer 14 20 2 0 70
96.5
Cremer to Lakmal, OUT! Cremer gets a 4-fer! He has been right on the money and has picked up wickets on a consistent basis! Cremer bowls this one slow through the air around leg stump, turning away. Lakmal is early into his clip shot and as a result, he gets a leading edge back towards the Zimbabwean skipper. He leaps a bit and takes it safely. Sri Lanka trail by 13 runs.

Masakadza kneels and goes for the sweep but is pinged on the back pad. A loud shout in unison from the hosts and the umpire rules it out. Hamilton however opts to take the review straightaway. Herath to R Chakabva, OUT! Bowled 'em! Chakabva didn't have any clue about it and Herath is all pumped up! Tosses this one up on middle on a bit of a shortish length. Chakabva hangs deep in the crease and expects it to come in with the arm. However, it spins away to catch him off guard and knocks the bail of off stump. Poor outing for Regis in this match. With around 20 minutes left for the lunch break, Sri Lanka will be aiming to get a couple of more breakthroughs.

R Herath to T Musakanda, OUT! Poor choice of shot and he pays the price for it! Tossed up on middle, spinning away. D Perera to Ervine, OUT! Zimbabwe are in dire straits now! They are falling down like a pack of cards! The star for the visitors in the first innings has thrown it away. On the shorter side of things around off, spinning away. Ervine pokes at it with an open bat face aiming to guide it past first slip. However, he finds Karunaratne in that region to perfection who takes another fine catch, this time by bending low. Craig could have left that delivery. The hosts are not being able to cope up with the pressure. Sri Lankan players head back to their dressing room with big smiles on their faces. In contrast, their opposition camp will be dejected. With that, LUNCH HAS BEEN TAKEN!

L Kumara to Moor, OUT! The bowling change has done the trick! Kumara is all pumped up! Good field placement by Chandimal as well. Dug in short, Moor takes on the pull shot and plays it decently. However, he doesn't bother keeping it down. The ball flies straight towards the substitute fielder, Danushka Gunathilaka who is positioned a fair distance up from the deep square leg boundary ropes. He lines it up and takes it comfortably. The 86-run stand comes to an end. Crucial breakthrough for the hosts. Zimbabwe lead by 155 runs.
Malcolm Wallerc Upul Tharanga b Dilruwan Perera 68 98 8 0 69.39
76.6
D Perera to Waller, OUT! Waller what have you done? This was so needless. Dilruwan drags his length back on leg stump, a nothing delivery actually. Waller camps back and pulls it uppishly straight to Tharanga at deep mid-wicket who takes an easy catch. It was a poor delivery, he could have hit it anywhere but he hit it straight to the fielder. Waller who played a brilliant knock has thrown it away. The 144-run stand has been broken by Dilruwan Perera. Sri Lanka would be relieved after this wicket. Zimbabwe lead by 299.

G Cremer to Mendis, OUT! Kusal Mendis departs. Big blow to Sri Lanka. That was a loopy ball on middle and leg, Kusal looked to sweep that, but it was too full to play that shot and he ended up top edging that one. The ball flew over mid on, where Sean Williams ran across to his right and took a nice catch. His gestures suggest that he picked the ball late. Sri Lanka are 4 down and they need another 210 runs.
