Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give readers insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab game  – the second of the two IPL matches on Sunday.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The Knight Riders are looking far more determined than even their previous match. They want to grow from their recent success and have been working on ways to open up further their team and individual potentials. The team management is playing an important role in developing their confidence to the next level. The Knight Riders wish to go out and convey a strong message to the opposition, and as explained by the Lovers card, they will do this by putting together strong partnerships and an all round team performance.

Gautam Gambhir may find himself tangled in his thoughts, unsure of how to play certain deliveries and may look perplexed at times. He will need to keep re-building his focus, especially since he has the King of Pentacles by his side – encouraging him to score well and confidently. As a captain, Gambhir will be lucky to have a team that is trying to play in unison, which may just hide some of his weaknesses as a captain.

Key players:

Manvinder Bisla will work hard on playing a balanced game and would try to adapt himself to what is required of him.

Yusuf Pathan, like the Ten of Wands, may have a lot more responsibilities than what he may be comfortable taking, but he will rise to the challenge.

Jacques Kallis would gradually go about growing his innings and would also be able to change his pace at will. He is ready to take on the opposition’s challenge, with the bat and the ball.

Lakshmipathy Balaji is very determined, and growing in confidence further. He believes he can achieve some great successes, and it’s this attitude that will support him in getting good results this match.

Shakib Al Hasan seems to be carrying a lot of luck with him and it’s his presence in the playing eleven that does wonders to this team. He should have another successful day since he is well planned and ready to execute.

Ryan ten Doeschate will play around the team, and as suggested by the Four of Wands, he may be able to cement a certain amount of success.

Manoj Tiwary should play a very controlled game; focused and ready to take on the opposition.

Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab are going into this game with the right ideas, and momentum. Despite this, they will feel a little unsure at times, and may even have some misdirected aggression, which may back fire. If they wish to succeed, then they will need to be prepared to fight this one out, rather than losing focus towards the end of the match, as indicated by the Knight of Swords.

Adam Gilchrist will be steady and contained in his game play. He would wish to break free in his batting at times, but may not be able to do so. He has the potential to play the anchor role, but the Two of Swords shows, that he may not be able to fulfill this desire completely. As a captain he too, like Gambhir, may not show the best display of captaincy at times, instead it will be the team that will direct their own skills in the right direction.

Key players:

Paul Valthathy would be able to build up slowly. This may not be the easiest task for him, but his application will be evident.

Mandeep Singh may have a very weak game and may find it a little difficult to execute his palans.

Dimitri Mascarenhas is strong and thriving off the success from his last game. He will build from this through his energy on the field, and his all round performance. It will be a good day for him.

Shaun Marsh is growing in his self-confidence, which seems to have been very important for him. He will use this, and should be able to grow stronger in this match through applying his strategies.

Praveen Kumar is strong, determined and should have some impressive successes.

David Hussey is another strong player. He should be able to step it up for the team.

Piyush Chawla has the Star by his side – so he should be able to recover from any previous issues and do well today.

Who has the advantage?

Overall, both teams have very strong players, therefore it’s not possible to decide through the players, plus the toss will be very important too. The crucial part will be the last five overs of the match, in which Punjab are currently looking weaker, and Kolkata have stronger cards, so I would say that its advantage Kolkata.
