It is cricket that binds India and Australia together and that fact has been affirmed by some goodwill gestures in the recent past. It has been announced that the University of Wollongong would provide a scholarship to an Indian student who excels at both cricket and academics.  The scholarship has been named after the legendary Sir Donald Bradman. The University is offering it with the help of the Bradman Foundation – which is a charitable trust that aims to promote the sport.

This move comes days after the Australian Prime Minister Jullia Gillard announced that Sachin Tendulkar would be conferred with the Order of Australia.

The candidate who gets the scholarship has to prove his cricketing credentials and the University would pay for half his tuition fees.
