Clarke says Australia is solely focused on winning the fourth Test and does not wish to get into the silicone tape controversy that has marred the build-up to the match.

Reports were rife that the players in the Ashes 2013 were using silicone tapes to cover their bats to prevent the Hot Spot from detecting thin deflections. This episode is similar to the Vaseline incident that took place during the England-India series in 2011.

Australia were helpless as factors beyond their control decided the outcome of the third Ashes Test. Constant rain on Day Five at Old Trafford ensured that England retained the Ashes with an unassailable 2-0 lead with only two matches to go. Yes time has flown and already we are beyond the half-way stage of the first leg of the Ashes 2013. Barley a few days back the third Test ended in the most forgettable of fashions and we are already near commencement of the fourth Test at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
